Crisis Line
Provides emotional support to individuals struggling with life’s challenges and crisis situations 24 hours per day. This is a confidential, anonymous, and non-judgmental service to those in crisis. Listeners meet people in their current state and provide them with a safe space to share their distress, and find the hope and the means to move forward. Every month we receive calls related to mental health issues, financial problems, abuse and suicide. And every month, SOS listeners intervene in high risk suicide calls – saving the life of someone.

Since its launch in May 2014, this new free referral and information service in the Region Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is available to anyone needing assistance locating crucial information. By dialing 211, residents of Northern Alberta can access information on government and community services/programs that are free and/or affordable to individuals and families. SOS’s role is to ensure that all community services are aware of 211 and the benefits. We collect up-to-date information on local services so that individuals can access correct information online or by dialing 211.

  • English not your first language? If callers do not speak English or wish to speak in their first language, they can access a translation service in over 150 different languages. Whatever questions people have, they can speak to a live person to find the answers they need.
