Knowing what to say and how to help when people disclose feelings of stress, challenge and discomfort can be difficult. This FREE training is available for any individuals who interact with or support young people between the ages of 12 and 30.
This basic suicide prevention training reduces the stigma of mental health by increasing community knowledge while obtaining practical skills to help others. Sharing how important one’s mental health is critically important.
This program is utilized by many schools in Wood Buffalo and is approved and advocated by Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Lois Mitchell.

Bridges “formal” and “informal” support for people
Focuses on prevention and early identification for people who may be at risk
Increases confidence when dealing with a crisis
Reduces stigma by increasing community awareness
Expands knowledge on mental health issues
Improves interventions for those who may be at risk of suicide
Self-awareness, self-care, and boundaries
Receive a Community Helpers Certificate on behalf of Alberta Health Services
