Plenty to be thankful for
There’s a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
A return to normalcy after a pandemic that lasted more than two years, time with family and friends, and enjoying a warm fall are just a few things people are giving thanks for as we celebrate the season.
For us here at Some Other Solutions, we are most thankful for you and our community.
Stronger together
For more than 34 years, we have been fortunate to be part of the Fort McMurray community, supporting our neighbours and helping individuals and families build resiliency.
We are proud to have a proactive relationship empowering everyone who comes through our door to be their best selves; a message you help share throughout the community and with those close to you.
As a community, we lean on each other and we step forward together.
Companies like Suncor have stepped forward with a strong commitment specifically to youth mental health and wellness. And together with our partners at the United Way Wood Buffalo and Fort McMurray, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and Alberta Health Services, we are excited to continue to support mental health and wellness each and every day.
“Working together, we are stronger advocates and community supporters,” Jason King, Executive Director at SOS.
Commitment to mental health and wellness
It is truly remarkable how much of a commitment this community has to their mental health and wellness.
For the three-plus decades we have been in operation, thousands of people have gathered for counselling sessions, summer camps, grief support groups, mindfulness classes and more.
Reaching out to get help is not easy. Every month we receive about 100+ calls from people looking for help. We are thankful they had the strength to reach out and get help for themselves.
As you sit down to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends, please take a few minutes to think of the people you know who may be celebrating alone or are struggling with their mental health.
Invite them over for dinner, or give them a call to ask how they are doing and tell them that you are thinking of them.
If you are struggling with the holiday, please reach out for support by calling 780–743–4357(HELP) or by clicking here.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Some Other Solutions.
