Suncor supports SOS Community Outreach
Some Other Solutions (SOS) is the proud recipient of a one-time grant from the Suncor that will enhance our capacity to serve Fort McMurray and the surrounding communities.
This grant instantly removes financial barriers that many families face when seeking mental health and wellness support for their youth. For a limited time, SOS will offer free Community Outreach Programs and vital assistance to children and youth within schools and the wider community.
Outreach to our youth is at the very heart of SOS’s mission. By providing support to young individuals during their most challenging times and nurturing their resilience for future obstacles, we help pave the way for their ultimate success.
Our programs, such as the Friendship program which promotes positive friendship skills and self-confidence among peers, and Heart of the Matter, a comprehensive six-week support program for children affected by divorce or separation, have been meticulously crafted based on community trends and the unique needs of our young people.
Additionally, the grant facilitates more access to the Community Helpers Program, a tailored mental health training program for young adults. Participants not only gain a deeper understanding of mental wellness, but also learn practical skills to help others.
These programs are vital tools in our quest to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, starting with the younger generation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Suncor for their unwavering support and belief in the transformative work happening through SOS with our community.
